Description

The initiative establishes a multi-donor special fund in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support sustainable development in Africa, particularly in country of origin and of transit of migratory flows. The Italian Development Cooperation commits €10 million in grants over three years. Combined with additional Italian ODA funds (from Italian Climate Fund and MASE fund) as well as from other bilateral donors, the multidonor special fund aims to address various sectors, including renewable energy, water resource management, and sustainable transportation. AIDB will manage the fund, scouting, selecting and executing projects for financing.The AfDB (African Development Bank) is responsible for defining the project pipeline to be funded through the multi-donor special fund. Only projects that receive the "no-objection" approval from Italy can actually be co-funded with Italian resources. The AfDB is responsible for the execution, the implementation of any tender procedures, and the monitoring of the individual co-funded projects, informing Italy regularly and constantly. The AfDB's management commission is 5% on all administered funds.The multi-donor special fund will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, in particular: SDG 6 (Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all), SDG 7 (Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all), and SDG 9 (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation). read more close
