Description
Building upon the on-going project “AID 12520 - Improving Access to Quality and Inclusive Education with Gender Equality for Out of School Children in Babil and Baghdad, Iraq”. The proposed action further aims to provide 40,000 Out of School Children (OSC) in Maysan, Thi Qar e Basra governorates with learning opportunities, safer and more conducive learning environment and enhanced quality of education. Despite the significant progress, the issue of access to quality education for disadvantaged children remains a challenge in Iraq with approximately 1.8 million school aged out-of-school children, with a need to address the issues of educational access to children in southern Iraq. 4 Building upon the results achieved from the on-going project, it is proposed to support Basra, Dhi Qar and Maysan governorates with better learning opportunities, safer and more conducive learning environment, and enhanced quality of education for 40,000 out-of-school children. The initiative will be realized in complementarity with “Teach for Future” project implemented by ENI targeting the Zubair district in Basra Governorate, as both initiatives the same purpose of improving access to quality education and strengthening the capacity of teachers.
