Description
The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of political actors and SMEs in Mozambique and Zimbabwe to leverage regional and continental trade agreements. Its goal is to overcome challenges like divergent regulations, high non-tariff trade costs, and a lack of infrastructure. Collaboration with FAO is envisaged to facilitate political dialogue, enhance trade policies, and support SMEs. Key objectives include the development of agricultural value chains, support for trade policies, and the facilitation of investments in agricultural trade. Major stakeholders involve the Ministries of Agriculture and Trade in both countries, as well as the private sector and SMEs. This initiative complements other ongoing or planned efforts to improve the agricultural sector and the economy in the Beira Corridor region.
