Description

The initiative aims to promote and strengthen the cultural and creative industries (CCI) sector through the valorization of cultural and environmental heritage in four municipalities in the provinces of Havana and Matanzas (Old Havana, Central Havana, East Havana and Matanzas). It will focus on economic processes linked to the model of creative cultural industries (CCIs) and will be in line with the local development strategies already drafted and implemented by the individual municipalities. Specifically, the initiative aims at optimizing the processes of planning, promotion and development of heritage and local economies, enhancing the accessibility and inclusiveness of 'creative zones' generating cultural and tourist spaces and services, - through the start-up of cultural and creative industries (CCI) incubators, the definition of training paths dedicated to new expertise, with a focus on the capacity-building of women and young people, and the creation of national and international networks and platforms that allow for greater articulation and exchange between the various actors. Actions are aimed at creating and involving public and private actors linked to CCIs, strengthening local capacities to generate income and employment with a focus on innovation, social inclusion, gender equality and sustainability. In these municipalities, AICS can count on 6 of the 8 cooperation initiatives implemented in the field of Culture and Local Development. This geographical concentration represents an opportunity to revitalize the territories involved, through the capitalization of lessons learned in the implementation of previous initiatives and the consolidation of networks of national and international actors already active in the territories. The intervention strategy wants to support the changes taking place in Cuban economic and social policies, supporting the progressive decentralization of local development planning and management functions, the recognition of new economic actors, the application of inter-institutional concertation and public-private participation formulas, where the cultural and creative industry can carve out an important role. The funds will be managed through the bilateral channel with entrusting to CSOs following a public call for tenders for the management of three lots. A part of the funds will be directly managed by AICS to allow overall coordination. The management typology was selected on the basis of an analysis conducted on the read more close
