Description

The African Virtual Investment Platform (AVIP) is a joint initiative of the OECD and the African Union that aims to support African countries in mobilizing investments to finance the productive transformation necessary to sustain growth and employment. The Platform seeks to improve knowledge about priority economic development projects in Africa, along with related public and private investment needs. The Platform aims to leverage the analytical expertise and capabilities of the OECD and the African Union Commission (AUC) to develop analytical tools, provide technical assistance, and formulate investment attraction policies. The initiative has three main objectives: 1. to collect accurate and harmonized data and information from various sources on investment in Africa, with analysis of current trends, key players, and investment policies, with a focus on the infrastructure sector; 2. to provide technical assistance activities aimed at African statistical agencies and other institutions at national, regional, and continental levels, in order to more effectively gather and analyze economic and political data related to investment and the development of sustainable infrastructure; 3. to promote dialogue among national, regional, and continental institutions on opportunities and policies for sustainable investment, including within the framework of continental programmes such as the African Union's Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) and the African Green Infrastructure Alliance (AGIA). read more close
