Description

This initiative aims to improve climate-sensitive food systems in Tete province, particularly in Moatize and Doa districts, in order to ensure food security for smallholder farmers and their families. The project involves small-scale producers, with a focus on women, and focuses on high nutritional value chains for the benefit of both producers and consumers. In detail, the initiative aims to increase smallholder farmers' economic income through climate change resilient agricultural production, improving post-harvest management of produce, and facilitating market access through the school feeding program. Two thousand producers will be involved, receiving support along the entire value chain from production to market access. In addition, another component of the project will focus on improving food intake by children and families through the establishment of microenterprises led by women and youth that will offer nutritional products and services. Initially, the main beneficiaries of these services will be the most vulnerable groups in the community, particularly women and children, who will receive direct cash transfers to purchase the products and services of the microenterprises. Finally, the initiative will help strengthen the DELPAZ delegated cooperation project's efforts to increase the resilience of local communities in the targeted areas. read more close
