Description

The initiative aims at contributing to improve the effectiveness of protection, support and reintegration services for survivors of gender-based violence in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. The program, which is the second phase of the eponymous program currently in an advanced stage of implementation – whose lessons learnt and recommendations were taken into account for drafting the programme in object – shall strengthen the capacities of the local civil society and of the relevant institutions to offer an adequate response to people at risk (prevention and protection) and to survivors (response and protection) of sexual and gender-based violence, by (i) further improving the skills of the operators involved, (ii) increasing the availability of adequate and integrated services and (iii) strengthening and expanding the community network of civil society organizations.The initiative is in line with both the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) adopted in the country, and with the "Guidelines for gender equality and women's empowerment" (DGCS - MAECI), to the extent that it promotes the use of local structures and guarantees results-oriented management of the initiative. read more close
