Description

Voluntary contribution to the activities that IOM implements for the promotion of international cooperation on migration. The allocation of funds to specific initiatives will be jointly established, in coordination with the organization. The voluntary contribution to IOM (International Organization for Migration) allows for the funding of a series of specific activities and initiatives to be jointly agreed upon, including the organization of events in support of IOM's objective regarding migration and development. The organization's action priorities are:1.improving migration "governance" with partner countries; 2.enhancing the contribution of regular migration to the development of partner countries; 3.integrating migration as a cross-cutting theme in development cooperation policies and activities; 4.ensuring assistance and protection for people in vulnerable conditions; 5.promoting a responsible and informed narrative on migration. This contribution will, in particular, allow for collaboration with IOM in organizing specific events on the topic of migration.Over the years, the Organization has developed strong relationships with various other Italian Ministries (in particular, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Labour) and with regional and local authorities, especially through its Rome Office, which has regional coordination responsibilities for the Mediterranean. The IOM mandate is also in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The Organization carries out cross-cutting action for the benefit of migrants and contributes, in particular, to the achievement of SDG 10 – "Reduce inequality within and among countries," specifically by making the migration and mobility of people more governed, safe, regular, and responsible, including through the implementation of well-planned migration policies; and SDG 17 – "Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development" for the promotion of effective partnerships in the public sector, between public and private sectors, and in civil society. read more close
