Description

Voluntary contribution to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to support the coordination of humanitarian activities carried out by National Societies in favour of vulnerable populations and to coordinate relief and assistance operations in response to natural disasters, such as earthquakes and floods. The contribution will support the IFRC Global Plan 2026, which aims to strengthen resilience in the areas of climate, health and migration, ensure effective responses to disasters and humanitarian crises, and promote an approach based on values, inclusion and respect for the communities served. The IFRC operates in the fields of climate action and disaster response, including through the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF), a financial mechanism established to provide immediate support to National Societies in emergency situations. A second key area of intervention concerns community health, through programmes designed to improve access to essential healthcare and basic health services, public health awareness campaigns, and epidemic preparedness and response activities, including volunteer training and the provision of medical equipment. A third programmatic area focuses on migration and human mobility through the coordination of regional migration plans and support to migrants and refugees along the Mediterranean route, as well as in Latin America, the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa. These activities are also implemented through Humanitarian Service Points, which provide access to basic healthcare services and livelihood opportunities. The contribution will also support initiatives aimed at preventing and preparing for humanitarian emergencies caused by natural disasters, in line with the anticipatory action approach, which seeks to reduce the impact of extreme events through timely preventive measures. The initiative is consistent with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (“Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”) and SDG 6 (“Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”). read more close
