Description

The voluntary contribution is aimed at funding a position within the JPO (Junior Professional Officers) Program managed by the World Bank, for a period of two years. This JPO is to be considered in addition to the parallel programs managed through UNDESA and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Among the JPO positions whose funding will be evaluated, the Embassy of Washington, which is responsible for the World Bank Group, has expressed a preference for the Office of the Practice Manager for Energy Infrastructure in Africa. Within this office, the JPO would have the opportunity to be involved in the definition of projects related to energy infrastructure in West Africa, an area of growing interest for Italian cooperation and where several interventions are foreseen, including under the Mattei Plan framework. The retention rate for JPOs funded by the Italian Government at the World Bank at the end of the program (around 90%) is higher than the average retention rate (around 83%) compared to other international organizations. In this sense, the most significant objective for the JPO program managed by the World Bank is SDG 17 (strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development), with particular regard to targets 17.16, 17.18 and 17.19.
