Description

The intervention aims at strengthening beneficiaries' protection space through border monitoring and the absorption and inclusion capacity of the refugee resettlement villages. The new project proposal aims at giving continuity to the actions already undertaken by the project funded by the Italian Cooperation in 2019 (implemented from February 2020), proposing activities both in the three "opportunity villages" built/rehabilitated thanks to the previous initiative, and in the host villages on the Niger/Nigeria border to respond to protection needs. The initiative targets refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons (IDPs), Nigerians returned from Nigeria due to terrorist attacks along the border between the Maradi region (Niger) and the Sokoto, Katsina and Zamfara regions (Nigeria), and the host populations. Activities will focus on: Capacity building of government and local actors in the area of child protection and vulnerable persons and/or survivors of VBG; Enhancement of economic empowerment opportunities of beneficiaries through the implementation of projects (small businesses, agriculture, fishing, handicraft production, etc.) aiming at creating long-term livelihoods; Strengthening of a community-based response policy through the creation of beneficiary groups dedicated to monitoring child protection and combating VBG-based violence read more close
