Description
By creating a National Center for Support the Artisanal Processing of Cotton (CNATAC), the aim of the project is to restore and reinforce the cotton sector and supply chain across the country. More specifically, it intends to improve craftsmen skills, with a particular focus on women and young apprentices, to respond effectively to market expectations.
The project will be implemented for 3 years, from the starting date. 2.285 people from the local communities are the direct beneficiaries, while their families and about 300,000 textile craftsmen to whom the Center's training offer is addressed are estimated to indirectly benefit from the project. The project will be carried out under the responsibility of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, which will operate through the General Directorate of Crafts (DGA). The government of Burkina Faso will co-finance the 1, 79 of the total cost, while the rest will be financed by AICS.
The first expected result is clearly the construction and equipment of the infrastructure that will support the artisanal processing of cotton. The second result is instead the development of a technical training offer, which will adopt a skill-based approach and include business management trainings, in order to improve the ability of craftsmen to manage laboratories and small businesses. In addition, the project envisages offering support services to small craft enterprises, by enhancing interaction with business incubators, working on the labeling process of textile products, and offering global visibility to the products. read more close
