Description

The initiative responds to the need to ensure that, at entry and first reception points—particularly in Adjumani, Imvepi, Kiryandongo, Palabek, Palorinya, Rhino, Nakivale, and Rwamwanja—the necessary registration and identification procedures as well as immediate protection services are in place for the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, persons with disabilities, and individuals in need of psychosocial support due to post-traumatic distress. The specific objective is to contribute to Uganda’s progressive refugee policy by strengthening the emergency response for newly arrived refugees and enhancing resilience among both refugees and host communities. The expected results are: Strengthened access to and quality of specialized protection services, including registration and documentation, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, child protection, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), for vulnerable individuals, particularly women and children at risk. Enhanced social cohesion and peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities, through reduced tensions over resources and increased participation in joint community initiatives. read more close
