Description

The initiative aims to reduce the risks posed by explosive ordnance (EO), with the objective of facilitating agricultural rehabilitation, promoting urban renewal and the improvement of livelihoods, as well as supporting the safe return of displaced and returning communities to their areas of origin. The intervention includes activities such as mapping, marking, and clearance of explosive ordnance, as well as Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) for affected communities and for humanitarian and early recovery actors. It also foresees the establishment of a National Authority dedicated to coordinating and strengthening the mine action sector in Syria. Finally, the initiative promotes the integration of humanitarian mine action into the United Nations’ strategic planning and advocacy efforts in Syria. read more close
