Description
The proposed initiative aims at improving health and well-being for children and pregnant/breastfeeding women in the Gaza Strip by restoring and strengthening essential health services, ensuring continuity of pediatric and neonatal care, and integrating child protection within hospital settings. The initiative also aims to support the early inclusion of children with disabilities, improve healthcare worker safety in unstable environments, provide urgent pediatric medical equipment, and promote a holistic approach that combines healthcare, psychosocial support, and maternal and child nutrition.Objectives: 1) Restore and sustain essential child health and immunization services; 2) Strengthen child protection activities in hospitals and medical facilities to identify children at risk (injured children, children who have lost or been separated from their parents, children experiencing severe psychosocial distress, etc.) in a timely manner and ensure they receive holistic child protection and psychosocial support that will promote their recovery, safety, and well-being; 3) Ensure continuity of neonatal and paediatric intensive care in strategic referral centers; 4) Support maternal nutrition and health for pregnant and breastfeeding women; 5) Provide urgent paediatric medical equipment to fill critical gaps; 6) Enhance security for health staff operating in volatile environments; 7) Integrate early identification, referral, and rehabilitation services for newborns and children with disabilities, including developmental delays, through inclusive healthcare protocols and referrals for rehabilitation and assistive devices.
