Description

This initiative focuses on ecological transition, a priority for promoting green innovation and creating jobs in Tunisia, as expressed in Tunisia's ‘National Ecological Transition Strategy’, and aims to strengthen the capacities and equipment of institutions and education, research and training facilities and centres to address ecological challenges, mitigate and adapt to climate change, while promoting sustainable development and innovation. The partnership includes academics, institutions, the private sector and civil society. The project is characterised by two innovative elements: an integrated approach from higher education, research and training to the implementation of innovative ecological projects on a pilot basis; and a multi-stakeholder partnership on territorial basis, including local authorities, universities, training centres and civil society organisations between Italy and Tunisia. The project is structured around the following four components and results: R1: Participatory governance - Activation of territorial skills partnerships to facilitate effective and inclusive governance of ecological transition processes. R2: Capacity-building - Development of local know-how to support ecological transition, through multidisciplinary training programmes. R3: Sharing and experimentation - Capitalisation of innovative models and practices to implement concrete eco-innovation experiences in Tunisia.
