Description
The project ‘A Future in Construction: Innovation and Youth Employment in the Construction Sector in Niger’ will be implemented by a consortium of 3 civil society organisations and one company with the objective of promoting youth employment, the establishment and/or growth of qualified companies in the sustainable construction sector in Niger. Through the coordination of CISP, the technical knowledge of ACTA-Niger, the mobilisation capacity of the NGOs HED-Tamat at the local level (Agadez Region) and FACTSahel+ at the international level (West Africa), this initiative will contribute to the achievement of the SDG 8 Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and in particular targets 8.3, 8.5 and 8.6, SDG 4 Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all with targets 4.3 and 4.4, and SDG 5 Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, target 5.5. In response to problems such as the inadequate technical and managerial training of young people, which generates a mismatch between supply and demand, and the economic, social and environmental opportunities of the bioclimatic construction sector, this project aims to work in the Agadez region to facilitate the vocational and entrepreneurial training of young women and men, the development of sustainable enterprises and institutional Allegato 2_Modello Documento Unico di Progetto_DUP_Bando Promossi 2023 7 support in the construction sector in the Agadez region. This specific objective aligns with the OECD-DAC Policy Objectives of Gender Equality and Good Governance, the Rio Marker of Climate Adaptation and the AICS Marker of Promoting Cultural Industries. The intervention strategy is at three interconnected levels (a) develop the technical and managerial skills of young men and women, based on their knowledge base and employability (Outcome 1 in line with OECD-DAC 11430 on advanced technical and managerial training); b) accompany young people with technical skills to meet possible employers or to set up, manage, develop and/or register businesses in the construction and ceramics sector (Outcome 2 in line with OECD-DAC sector 16020 job creation); government institutions, investors, development actors in the Agadez region and at the national level (Outcome 3 in line with OSCE-DAC 32310 Construction Policy and Administrative Management).
