Description
The initiative adopts a perspective of environmental, social sustainability and gender equity through the development of an ecologically and socially equitable agribusiness system geared toward sustainable, diversified, quality production that is available and accessible to consumers. The overall objective is to contribute to the strengthening of food security of rural communities in Tunisia, in the governorates of Sidi Bouzid and Kebili, by fostering the nexus between natural resource protection, agriculture, nutrition, health, and labor (OS). To achieve OS, the project responds to identified needs through three expected outcomes. The first corresponds to strengthening agro-ecological practices and production diversification among small-scale organized producers (RA1 - sector 31120). In order to increase access to quality food products in local markets and knowledge of good healthy nutritional practices among children/adolescents (RA 2 - 31191), in response to the lack of food diversification especially among adolescents and children, the project involves strengthening collective marketing management. Finally, in order to promote good practices of protection and promotion of rights for female agricultural workers in the regions of Sidi Bouzid and Kebili (RA 3 - 16070), the project envisages the formulation of recommendations for decent and safe work, based on a study on labor, structuring a listening, protection and referral system for women workers at risk of exploitation, abuse and gender-based violence, and raising public awareness of the rights of women agricultural workers.
