Description
This initiative contributes to inclusive and just economic growth in Morocco through the implementation in the territories of Rabat, Tangier, Oujda and Marrakesh of vocational training, employment and business creation pathways based on a model of accompaniment to employment and entrepreneurship that stands as an alternative to that imported from Silicon Valley. The latter, by definition extractive since it aims to bring out a type of business that scales markets by making scorched earth around it, is not sustainable from a perspective of inclusive growth and is unsuitable for territories with different conditions, where it produces distortions and creates expectations that in the vast majority of cases are betrayed. Instead, the incubation model proposed by the initiative aims to structure new forms of accompaniment to employment and business generation that start from individual sustainability and positive change on the context as fundamental factors that define work and enterprise. Already pioneered by CEFA and Kilowatt in the city of Oujda, this model takes its cue from the network of mutual support that shapes the business relationships found in Maghreb territories. Given its origin, we have called this approach in which mutual support, sustainability and social justice contribute to the co-generation of positive and stable change over time, a 'Mediterranean Incubation' model. The main impact is achieved on the territory, capable of attracting, creating and providing opportunities, and on the individual, capable of thinking of themselves through a different light and exploring new opportunities. Moreover, starting from the Maghreb means enhancing local practices that can also be brought to this side of the Mediterranean, getting out of the export dynamic and espousing a logic of adaptation to the context. Focusing on sustainability and inclusivity, this model presents itself as an effective and holistic response to the needs of young people, women, and those at risk of marginalization, who are more exposed to unemployment, poorly paid work, exploitation, and inactivity. In this context, the incubators run by CEFA, Soleterre and ES.Maroc.org in the cities of Rabat, Tangier and Oujda are configured as incubators of opportunity, capable of welcoming each person with their specificities and directing them towards a path of economic insertion that positively impacts the individual and the territory to which they belong.good practices developed and tested by the three already active incubators will also be extended to the territory of Marrakesh, which was heavily impacted by the earthquake of September 8, 2023. Three closely related axes of intervention will be implemented: - A first axis (Output 1) that puts the person at the center through the implementation by the territorial incubators of accompanying pathways to improve individual and professional skills and the labor inclusion. - A second axis (Output 2) of experimentation, to prototype the accompaniment pathways (UniCa responsible for the dissemination of the model in the academic world and beyond) and disseminate them at other incubators, specifically at the one in Marrakech, and capacity building on impact investing and the development of impact measurement matrices through the expertise of Human Foundation. - A third axis (Output 3), aimed at building networks between incubators, impact investing actors and the Italian System, to increase the economic sustainability of incubators and their capacity to promote interventions geared towards the job placement of individuals at risk of marginalization according to an inclusive, collaborative and sustainable Mediterranean accompaniment model.
