Description

The project aims to enhance resilience to disasters in the Western Balkans region through better risk knowledge, strengthened governance, improved multi-hazard early warning systems (EWS) and transboundary cooperation focusing on Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia, with a regional engagement of Kosovo. The overall objective is to enhance Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) capacity and the development and management of EWS across the Western Balkans, focusing on inclusive governance, community empowerment, and improved disaster preparedness and response through capacity building and strategic partnerships. This will be done through: 1) increased capacity of state authorities and stakeholders to develop effective multi-hazard early warning systems through improved collection and management of risk knowledge and data; 2) strengthened disaster risk governance and decision-making processes across all levels; 3) enhanced disaster management capacities at the local level, aiming to develop and support the implementations of DRR strategies, integrate climate change adaptation, and empower vulnerable groups and women as part of UNDRR’s MCR2030 initiative. read more close
