Description

The Initiative aims to promote an integrated action for the prevention and the response to the food and nutrition crisis affecting the most vulnerable populations (refugees, IDPs, returnees and host communities) touched by the complex humanitarian crises in Cameroon and Chad. Specifically, the activities will be aimed, with particular focus on gender, on the one hand, at responding to urgent needs in terms of immediate food assistance, and, on the other, at improving affected populations’ food security level in the short to medium term, increasing their capacity to respond to the increasingly recurring shocks in the Sahelian provinces of the target countries. The intervention promotes, in fact, the socio-economic re/integration of the population categories most at risk through vocational training and capacity building to foster empowerment at the individual, family and community levels, by initiating income-generating activities and innovative community entrepreneurship initiatives in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fishing sectors in favour of social cohesion, gender equality and woman empowerment. In particular, the programme - formulated in coordination with local authorities and other international humanitarian actors - will focus on the following sectors: Agriculture and Food Security and Nutritional Health, adopting an integrated multi-sectoral approach. The main cross-cutting themes of the Initiative are Protection; Gender Equality; Protection and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and Children; Water, Sanitation, Environment, Land, Natural Resources Management, Climate Change. read more close
