Description
This project aims to restore and ensure that Mosul University Library is functioning and accessible as was the case before the destructions and occupation from 2014 to 2017. The library will again connect people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds and provide access to information and knowledge for all. UNESCO wishes to build resilience and promote rapid recovery and transition in Mosul. In crisis quality education provides physical and cognitive protection that can sustain and save lives. Education remains a fundamental human right, and quality learning opportunities should be available for all ages from early childhood to adulthood. The Mosul University library plays an important role in realizing this objective by supporting the process of reviving the spirit of youth, ensuring access to a safe learning environment. The rehabilitated and revived library will significantly contribute to building a peaceful, inclusive society, based on mutual respect and understanding. The initiative focuses on putting in place a well-functioning library, enabling the library personnel, faculty, students of 123 colleges of the University and other users to access quality educational and learning resources.
