Description

Voluntary contribution to IILA to support the JUNTAS project, which benefits six Latin American countries and aims to achieve positive outcomes in terms of national and international security. “JUNTAS” has the ultimate goal of strengthening operational police cooperation, with particular focus on the prevention and countering of serious and emerging crimes and the fight against transnational criminal organizations. This objective is achieved through technical assistance activities, training, and support in the form of technical advisory services. The project’s methodology concretely embodies the principle of technical assistance set forth in the Palermo Convention and is structured into specific, highly interconnected components. In particular, the project develops capacity-building actions (aimed at enhancing the professionalism of police forces) and promotes the sharing of operational synergies (improving the exchange of operational methods). Indirectly, these actions support institution building (strengthening police institutions), value dissemination (spreading and promoting the values of legality), and regulatory development (sharing and comparing operational tools and best practices, also with the aim of initiating virtuous processes to align sectoral regulations and methodologies) read more close
