Description

The main objective of the project is to strengthen local private sector in Uganda through dedicated capacity building and business development services, leveraging international partnerships. The main outputs of the project are the following: 1) Establishment of an Enterprise Development Centerswithin local Chambers of Commerce (UNCCI), a dedicated hub where all targeted beneficiaries and stakeholders can benefit from dedicated technical trainings, ToTs, TVETs and other capacity building initiatives (among others on Market Intelligence, ESG standards and compliance, certifications and trade, International Contracts and Arbitration, Trade barriers mitigation); 2) Promotion of dedicated business development services to local businesses and associations, facilitating international partnerships and through activities of technology assessment, matchmaking, and investment promotion on strategic sectors of Made in Italy such as agribusiness, manufacturing, ICTs, and Environment, with a dedicated intervention to sensitize SMEs on the impact of industrial development on the deforestation issue. The initiative aligns with the Mattei Plan launched by the Italian Government and share the same spirit as the Global Gateway promoted by the European Union, also in view of taking advantage of the opportunities opened by African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); it also offers an inclusive and sustainable regional approach and places Italy as a strategic player in the triangular south-south cooperation activity in the area. read more close
