Description
An overall objective of the project is to promote a dialogue between these African and Italian institutions, to work together in a new perspective of equal cooperation fostering the unique capacity of cultural heritage to build bridges between cultures. Cultural heritage (involving the immaterial knowledges related to the objects) is precious for the international community as well as for local and diasporic groups, which find within the museums a space of intercultural dialogue and confrontation. This is particularly significant for young people both in Africa and in Italy who needs to be reconnected with their common cultural heritage to enhance their awareness of history and of shared cultural values. The public, the researchers and the communities interested to this heritage will be eventually able to access it through a digital platform containing the reproductions of objects, images, information and documents, and through shared valorization initiatives. The collaboration between African and Italian museums will increase common knowledge of the heritage as well as museum expertise and management skills, developing collaborative strategies of shared conservation and valorization.
