Description

The initiative will be implemented in the south-eastern provinces of Chad to promote the socio-economic empowerment of the most vulnerable populations, with a particular focus on young people and women, by supporting the development and improvement of sustainable and bankable agro-sylvo-pastoral and fishing value chains, in order to increase agricultural production (agro-ecological intensification) and add value to the afore-mentioned value chains. To this end, the initiative will implement interventions aimed at preserving natural resources, and protecting and increasing the availability of land and water for agriculture in a context strongly marked by the effects of climate change. It will also fund the provision of equipment in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fishing sector to increase yields, which remain low due to poor production, processing and marketing practices that lead to post-harvest and production losses and contribute to the persistence of gender gaps and conflicts. Consequently, the initiative will be composed of the following project objectives: OG Contribute to improving the well-being and food security of the populations of the provinces of Ouaddaï, Dar Sila, Salamat and Moyen-Chari OS Developing resilient agri-food systems, including increasing income, particularly for women and young people. The initiative will develop specific actions in favour of young people and women to strengthen their initiatives and their presence in the local economic fabric in order to reduce poverty levels of these vulnerable groups and limit the phenomenon of abandonment of the countryside and escaping from jobs deemed unattractive read more close
