Description

Al-Hol camp in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) hosts approximately 27,000 Iraqi citizens, especially women and children. Residents live in closed camps and detention facilities and there are urgent humanitarian, human rights, and security needs. The Iraqi government has begun repatriating its citizens from the camp after an intense screening process, especially for those identified as previously affiliated with ISIL. Those who pass the screening are subjected to rehabilitation and prepared for reintegration into the community. There is an urgent need to provide services to improve social, psychological, and economic reintegration to ensure that reintegration is holistic and sustainable and addresses stigma, threats, and vulnerabilities specific to different categories of returnees. read more close
