Description

The Project is the follow up and consolidation of a previous Norwegian funded programme. It is part of Global and Caribbean initiatives to control plastic. It will allow reducing plastic waste in Antigua & Barbuda, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Santa Lucia, Saint Vincent & Grenadines. Pilot actions for proper management of recyclable plastic waste will be tested generating job opportunities for youth and women. Measures to handle nonrecyclable polymers will be identified and tested. Key stakeholders’ knowledge and capacity will be enhanced. Furthermore, the national legal framework will be strengthen and applied and a model to reduce disposable plastic will be developed. IUCN will execute the Project. Implementation will involve not only national and regional institutionals but also the private sector, civil society and the scientific community through IUCN networks. The financial contribution of the Italian Cooperation is MEUR 2 and duration three years. read more close
