Description
Nowadays, policy makers in Albania, development and integration partners, and the wider informed public have realized that the Albanian Diaspora Communities are becoming increasingly important for the development of Albania. Albania’s economy has benefitted significantly from remittance inflows, yet, there is a need to support new avenues promoting the diaspora to strengthen their connection to Albania and contribute to its economic and social growth. The program is designed along 4 strategic strands, in line with the National legal framework on Diaspora: I. Institutional and Leadership development, II, Albanian communities Abroad and Human Capital; III. Albanian communities Abroad and Economic development; IV. Supporting Albanian Communities Abroad.
During the first year the project was able to:
I. Organize a series of activities in Italy with the Albanian communities to introduce the pillars of the project and strengthen their involvement in the development of Albania;
II. Offer technical support and assistance to the National Diaspora Agency;
III. Launch the first calls for the involvement of Albanian professionals abroad through the fellowship scheme.
During the second year of activities the project will be able to expand and roll-out the entire Fellowship scheme and will launch the Connect Albania investment boosting platform. read more close
