Description
The project, implemented in partnership with the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (IAMB), aims to assist the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo (MAFRD) in the process of the European integration by facilitating the adoption of EU food safety standards. In particular the initiative, in line with the “Agriculture and Rural Development Plan 2009-2013” of the MAFRD, intends to: i) update and harmonise rules and procedures in line with the European standards for plant protection, plant health control and organic farming; ii) upgrade the laboratories of plant disease diagnosis and chemical analysis of MAFRD; iii) strengthen the national quarantine service, iv) enhance the local fruit ecotypes through a work of clone selection; v) develop a national nursery through technical assistance, awareness and training, vi) strengthen the extension services of the MAFRD.
