Description
The project aims to conserve one of the most prominent rock-cut façades within Petra, the Palace Tomb. This effort is aligned with the conservation policies outlined in the Petra Integrated Management Plan (PIMP) and builds on the conservation plan for the monument developed under the Italian-funded Project “Preserving Petra's Nabataean architectural heritage through the study of the Royal Tombs water management system and the conservation of the Palace Tomb” (here-after Phase 1). As cultural heritage management has evolved, stakeholders participation has also become a crucial element, and engaging them at various levels of consultation and implementation will be central to management planning practices. Main actions within the project are: i. The execution of conservation interventions at the Palace Tomb; ii. Capacity strengthening of the national authorities, local community, and young graduate/professional on heritage conservation.
