| vocab:Description | Obiettivo del progetto è stato quello di rafforzare gli uffici centrali e locali del Ministero dell'Ambiente Albanese (MdA) a sviluppare le loro capacità di pianificare e gestire sistematicamente le aree protette. Con l’introduzione di approcci innovativi alla gestione in due aree protette pilota (Buna River e Shebenik - Jabllanicë), il progetto si propone inoltre di sostenere la vasta gamma di benefici per le comunità locali generati da ecosistemi ben conservati e funzionanti.Principali beneficiari sono state le istituzioni responsabili della pianificazione e gestione delle aree protette, sia a livello centrale e regionale (uffici MdA), le comunità locali delle due aree protette pilota in termini di maggiore capacità di partecipazione diretta nella gestione sostenibile delle aree protette, le istituzioni scientifiche locali (Università di Tirana, Scutari e Elbasan), organizzazioni non governative e il settore privato, che sarà coinvolto nella erogazione dei servizi eco-sistemici.Il progetto risponde alla necessità, espressa dal Governo Albanese tramite la Environmental Cross-cutting Strategy (ECS) per il periodo 2007-2013, di "tutelare e migliorare la biodiversità, le aree e le specie protette con lo scopo di preservare il patrimonio naturale e culturale del nostro ambiente in linea con i nostri impegni europei einternazionali". Di una durata iniziale prevista di 3 anni, il progetto è stato esteso a 5 anni. |
| vocab:Description_en | The project objective was to strengthen both central and local offices of the Ministry of Environment (MoE) of Albania in developing their capacities to systemically plan and manage the national protected areas (PAs). By promoting innovative approaches to management in two pilot protected areas (Buna River Protected Landscape and Shebenik –Jabllanicë National Park), the project aimed also to support the broad range of benefits that the local and wider communities could enjoy from preserved and well-functioning ecosystems.<br>Main beneficiaries are the Institutions responsible for the planning and management of PAs at both central and regional level (MoE offices), the local communities of the two pilot PAs in terms of their enhanced capacity for the direct participation in sustainable protected area management, local scientific institutions (Universities in Tirana, Shkodra and Elbasan), NGOs and the private sector, which will be involved in the provisions of ecosystem services.<br>The project responds to the need expressed by the GoA in the Environmental Cross-cutting Strategy (ECS) for the period 2007-2013, of “Protection and improvement of biodiversity, protected areas and species with the purpose of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of our environment in line with our European and international commitments”. From an initial planned duration of 3 years, the project has been extended to 5 years. <br> |
