Description

The bilateral initiative aims to renovate and enhance the Maternal and Child Health Department at Orotta Hospital in Asmara, Eritrea. The goal is to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health, as well as the nutritional status of women and children during the first 1,000 days of life, by intervening in both basic and specialized healthcare services. The proposed initiative includes: (i) renovation of the Maternal and Child Health Department. (ii) provision of medical equipment, supply of medicines, consumables, biomedical equipment, and nutritional packages for mothers and newborns during the first 1,000 days; (iii) establishment and equipment of an operating theater (iv) high-level training activities for Eritrean specialized healthcare personnel at various professionallevels on maternal and child health issues. Highly qualified training activities for specialized Eritrean healthcare personnel, at various professional levels, on topics related to maternal and child health. Focus will also be placed on training that addresses the rights, needs, and requirements of pregnant women, covering aspects of psychological support, assistance during childbirth and the postpartum period, and activities related to gender-based violence. This includes awareness-raising for healthcare workers and support pathways for GBV survivors. The initiative, with a duration of 24 months and a total budget of 2 million euros, will be entrusted to Civil Society Organizations and entities listed under Article 26, paragraph3, of Law 125/2014. read more close
