Description

The initiative aims to support the displased populations and the vulnerable communities affected by the security crisis in the Sahel, Northern, Central and Eastern regions of Burkina Faso by ensuring access to high quality preventive and curative health care that meets national standards and by preventing global acute malnutrition (MAG) through improved food consumption and/or agricultural production to the affected population. In order to guarantee access to care for the affected population, the initiative includes the regular supply of medicines and medical equipment to the health centres still operating in the areas affected by the security crisis and the establishment of medical referral systems, the strengthening of the medical skills of community health workers and traditional midwives, the administration of the vaccination cycle for children aged 0-5 years and the implementation of Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support Services (MHPSS) at community level. To prevent global acute malnutrition, the initiative includes strengthening the economic and food security of the affected populations through the distribution of food, therapeutic foods and basic necessities. It will also support the increase of agricultural production and livestock production capacity through the distribution of seeds and the provision of preventive veternary care. Finally, it will support the improvement of income-generating capacity of vulnerable families by supporting the creation of small bussiness and financing farmers' associations, which in turn will provide credit to the community. read more close
