Description

The project aims to improve living conditions for 17.534 forcibly displaced persons and members of host communities across hosting areas in Burkina Faso including the North, Boucle du Mouhoun, East, Centre-East, Center-North and Hauts-Bassins, Cascades, and South-West Regions. The initiative is aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihoods, climate-adapted production methods, and peaceful coexistence between displaced persons and host communities. Sustainable livelihoods are strengthened through market-responsive vocational training, improving socio-economic integration and job creation and sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural production and income-generating activities for forcibly displaced individuals (especially women and youth). Food production capacities will increase using ecological, innovative, and environmentally friendly approaches (e.g., soilless and greenhouse farming) and the establishment of production and processing units in pisciculture, apiculture, and provision of agricultural inputs to the population. Furthermore, the project promotes peaceful coexistence between displaced persons and host communities. Tensions and inequalities within communities and between populations are mitigated through quality education and joint awareness activities between forcibly displaced individuals and host community members. The meaningful participation of women in governance and decision-making structures in temporary reception sites (SAT) and displaced persons' reception areas (ZAD) is strengthened, reducing exposure to gender-based violence (GBV) through their empowerment, awareness-raising, and access to information. read more close
