Description

In line with the project WE CAND DO IT (AID 011863), the initiative "Well-Being together" intends to intervene in the mental health sector in the municipality of Tirana. Proposed by Condivisione fra i Popoli (CfP) with its local counterpart Shoqata, the initiative intends to give back to the person with mental or psychosocial disabilities a dimension of civility and social integration through capacity-building and awareness-raising of Albanian institutions and population in the field of mental health (O.G.). The initiative, which will be developed over 36 months, aims to strengthen community-based psychiatric rehabilitation services for people with mental and/or psychosocial distress in the municipality of Tirana through capacity-building of social and health care staff and by offering opportunities to learn instrumental skills for labour inclusion and independent living (O.S.). Starting from the identification of the needs of the person with mental and/or psychosocial disabilities, thanks to the implemented activities it will be possible to provide adequate responses, through processes of vocational training with occupational therapy, support to independent living and awareness-raising of institutions and civil society in order to promote full social and labour inclusion. The partners will work to increase the employability of people with mental and / or psychosocial disabilities in the municipality of Tirana through the enhancement of occupational therapy and the provision of preparatory courses for job placement (ER1). A theatre company, a bakery-pastry shop and an educational farm will be set up in which 180 people with mental and/or psychosocial disabilities will benefit from individual rehabilitation plans that include occupational therapy and job placement opportunities within the activities carried out. These paths are aimed at increasing their instrumental and professional skills and are preparatory to accessing the labour market thanks to the subsequent referral to the network of training bodies and companies set up and sensitised within the framework of the ongoing WE CAN DO IT initiative. In order to promote social inclusion, the right of people with mental and/or psychosocial disabilities in the Municipality of Tirana to live a dignified life in autonomy will be promoted through the experimentation and dissemination of a social housing programme built on the basis of the specific characteristics and needs of the target (ER2). The individualised rehabilitation plan will provide for 31 beneficiaries to be included in a preparation course for independent living within a structure designed for co-housing; 4 beneficiaries will be involved in the experimentation of independent living in independent flats with the constant support of the educational team. In collaboration with the University of Tirana, which will evaluate the methodology and the results of the courses, a protocol on social housing for people with mental and/or psychosocial disabilities will be drafted and presented to Albanian public institutions and the Municipality of Tirana. Finally, in order to decrease the marginalization and social stigmatization of people with disabilities, Albanian academics, institutions and population will be trained and sensitized on the right of rehabilitation and inclusion (ER3). Through the updating of the university curricula of the Faculties of Psychology and Social Services of the University of Tirana, the foundations will be laid to guarantee Albanian students the acquisition of new approaches to psychiatric rehabilitation. read more close
