Description

Among the Sudanese female population there is a high mortality rate, which is constantly increasing, due to breast and cervical cancer. Cancer is one of the top ten deadly diseases. The Nation suffers from double morbidity: high incidence of communicable diseases and increasing incidence of non-communicable diseases, for this last it is essential not to abandon, in the current pandemic situation, the recent request of the WHO to eliminate cervical cancer and the global tendency to control the incidence rate of breast and cervical cancer in LMICs. National Health Institutions specialized in addressing the above-mentioned problem are few and lacking both the necessary health equipment and, specially, adequately specialized personnel. Furthermore, a series of reasons of cultural aspects or linked to local traditions prevent women from facing these pathologies at the onset of the first symptoms, with the result that access to health services occurs mostly when the pathology is in an irreversible state, hence the need for greater dissemination of awareness-raising activities on the importance of prevention in early diagnostic, screening and treatment programs. This initiative identifies as priorities: SDGs 3, guarantee a healthy life and promote well-being for all and at all ages with target 3.4, 3.8; SDGs 5, achieve gender equality and self-determination for all women and girls with target 5.1. With OECD sector Dac 12220 Primary Health Care, and 12261 Health Education. For the framework briefly described, we define: General objective, to contribute to the improvement of the National Health System N.H.S. of Sudan with regard to the management of female oncological pathologies. Specific objective, enhancement of the functionality of Soba and Saudi Hospital with particular attention to staff training, to the efficiency of oncological treatment of female cancers for reproductive health and to continuous awareness campaign for the female population in the target areas of the initiative; to effect on the pathology with a significant increase in the percentage of cure of women with cervical and breast cancer. We want to achieve this goal through the strengthening and recognition of the Operational Unit O.U. Cancer Control Center for Women C.C.C.W. - of Soba University Hospital in Khartoum Mother Health Center and the Operational Unit O.U. Satellite Health Center which will be established in Saudi Hospital K.S.H. in Kassala Health Citadel K.H.C. for the fight against female cancer, with mutual assistance agreements. Scientific partner of the project is the University Campus BioMedico Hospital of Rome U.C.B.M. having the role of supporting the correct application of care protocols and specialist training of healthcare personnel. The expected duration of the initiative is three years. read more close
