| vocab:Description | Il progetto “Green School Italia: rete di scuole e territori per lo sviluppo sostenibile” rappresenta l’opportunità di valorizzare un modello di lavoro consolidato, standardizzato ed efficace per la promozione e diffusione di buone pratiche per la sostenibilità, a partire dalle scuole coinvolgendo le comunità locali. L’esperienza delle Green School è iniziata nel 2009 in provincia di Varese, come iniziativa dal basso ideata da un patto di comuni (Agenda 21 Laghi) con l’ONG CAST e l’Università dell’Insubria, e si è replicata, sulla base del riconoscimento dei risultati ottenuti, grazie a un finanziamento AICS in tutta la Lombardia, coinvolgendo dal suo inizio 619 scuole, 146.414 studenti e 12.195 insegnanti. L’approccio Green School – ed obiettivo del progetto Green School Italia – è fornire strumenti per comprendere le sfide poste dai cambiamenti climatici ed i rischi globali che tutti siamo tenuti a conoscere, valutare ed affrontare. Ad ogni rischio deve corrispondere un comportamento efficace a ridurre la velocità dei cambiamenti climatici, a controllare i rischi che ne derivano o a pensare un Mondo resiliente a quei cambiamenti, in buona parte inevitabili. Da questi presupposti i docenti, gli studenti e le comunità imparano a conoscere realistiche strategie di mitigazione, pensate per controllare e minimizzare la propria impronta carbonica grazie a scelte quotidiane consapevoli, ma capaci di produrre impatti sulla mitigazione globale, oppure soluzioni di adattamento, per mantenere la nostra biodiversità e capacità produttiva essenziale anche in un Mondo più sfidante, con climi più estremi ed aridità prolungate. Il progetto parte dalle Scuole ma arriva alle Comunità, trasformando il tessuto sociale, economico ed associazionistico in cantieri di sostenibilità, che riescono a pensare e realizzare percorsi di co-progettazione, con l’ideazione di patti educativi di comunità e la realizzazione di progetti ed azioni concrete mirate alla risoluzione di problemi specifici o per valorizzare opportunità uniche identificate su un territorio molto vasto, rappresentato da 5 regioni italiane del Nord, Centro e Sud Italia. L’iniziativa intende coinvolgere 40.000 alunni dai 3 ai 19 anni (dalla scuola dell’infanzia alla secondaria di secondo grado) e 3.000 insegnanti di 250 scuole italiane di 5 diverse regioni, fornendo gli strumenti, la formazione e il supporto per integrare buone pratiche comportamentali negli obiettivi e nella pratica educativa quotidiana. Le buone pratiche diverranno contenuti formativi trasversali tra la diverse materie scolastiche, ma anche comportamenti quotidiani che gli studenti trasferiranno ai modelli di gestione delle loro stesse scuole, per le quali si adopereranno per attuare le migliori scelte per il risparmio energetico, per la riduzione della produzione dei rifiuti e per la totale differenziazione degli stessi, per nuovi approcci alla mobilità scolastica, utile alla salute ed alla riduzione degli spostamenti con mezzi privati. Gli studenti sapranno cosa significa concretamente attuare strategie di riduzione della propria impronta carbonica, ma riusciranno anche a misurarla, così come è stato fatto nei 13 anni pregressi di implementazione del modello Green School. L’adozione delle buone pratiche, la misurazione della riduzione degli impatti degli istituti scolastici e degli studenti, docenti e personale attivo che le popolano, il coinvolgimento della comunità in cui la scuola è inserita sono i criteri che portano alla certificazione delle Green School. Ogni scuola certificata Green School, infatti, non solo dimostra di saper garantire una gestione ottimale delle proprie esternalità ambientali, ma anche la capacità di svolgere un ruolo di promozione dei comportamenti presso la propria comunità, quale motore del cambiamento della società civile. |

The Green School approach - and the objective of the Green School Italy project - is to provide tools for understanding the challenges posed by climate change and the global risks that we are all required to know, assess and deal with. Each risk must be alleviated by an effective behavior to reduce the speed of climate change, to control the resulting risks or to plan for a World more resilient to those changes, which cannot be avoided entirely. On these assumptions, teachers, students and communities learn about realistic mitigation strategies, designed to control and minimize their carbon footprint through conscious daily choices, but capable of producing impacts on global mitigation, or adaptation solutions, to maintain our biodiversity and essential productive capacity in a more challenging World, with more extreme climates and prolonged drought. The project starts in schools but reaches out to communities, transforming the social, economic and associative clusters into sustainability laboratories, able to conceive and implement co-projecting paths, with the creation of community educational pacts and the implementation of projects and concrete actions aimed at solving specific problems or enhancing unique opportunities identified in a very large territory, represented by 5 Italian regions in the North, Center and South of Italy. The initiative intends to involve 40,000 pupils aged 3 to 19 (from pre-school to secondary school) and 3,000 teachers from 250 Italian schools in 5 different regions, providing the tools, training and support to integrate good behavioral practices into daily educational objectives and practice. The good practices will become transversal training contents between the different school subjects, but also daily behaviors that students will incorporate into the management models of their own schools: they will stimulate the adoption of best performing energy saving measures, tools for the reduction of waste production and for its correct separation, for new approaches to school mobility, reducing private vehicles use. Students will know what it means in practice to implement strategies to reduce their carbon footprint, but they will also be able to measure it, as has been done in the past 13 years of implementation of the Green School model. The adoption of best practices, the measurement of the reduction of the impacts of schools and the students, teachers and active staff who populate them, the involvement of the community in which the school is located are the criteria that lead to be certificated as Green Schools. Each certified “Green” school not only demonstrates the ability to ensure optimal management of its environmental externalities, but also the ability to play a role in raising awareness in its community, and promote sustainable practices as an engine of change in civil society. |
