vocab:Description_en | The objective of the intervention is to reduce HIV incidence and mortality by universal access to HIV/TB prevention and treatment in Malawi, whose progress will be monitored calculating the n° of HIV deaths per year on 100.000 people (current: 68; goal: 65 by 2023) and the n° of new people infected per year on 1.000 people (current: 3.9; goal: 2.7 by 2023). This will be achieved mainly through increasing Balaka residents’ continuative access to quality HIV/TB services. The increase will be measured by calculating the % of people living with HIV and on ART in the ART clinics involved in the project for at least 6 months who are virologically suppressed (current: 95%; goal: 97% by 2023). Another relevant indicator will be the % of children newly infected with HIV from MTCT among women living with HIV delivering in the past 12 months in one of the ART clinics involved in the project. Two main outputs are expected: improved HIV/TB health services’ response-capacity in Balaka and the adoption and assessment of a gender-sensitive approach in HIV/TB services in 4 ART clinics in Balaka. The first will be assessed taking into account the % of people living with HIV not on ART at the 24th month of the project among people living with HIV who were on ART at the 6th month in the ART clinics involved in the project (current: 1.8%; goal: 1.65% by 2023) and the Percentage of TB patients with DST result for at least Rifampicin among the total number of notified (new and retreatment) cases in the same year (current: 28,5%; goal:40% by 2023). |
